What’s the difference between a ski rope and a wakeboard rope?

We get this question often. In general, water ski and wakeboard ropes are sold similar in length. Why are they different? Ski ropes are usually made at 75 feet with stretch in them; they can stretch 1-3% depending upon the rider. This acts as a shock absorber for the skier. They are also made to come in several sections with the ability to shorten or lengthen the rope based on your skill level and preference. The Radar Sure Grip is a great start for a basic ski rope. Wakeboard ropes are made with a spectra line, like the Hyperlite Riot Pro Package, which keeps your line tension consistent while cutting, jumping, or flipping the wakeboard. Some wakeboard ropes are also coded in silicone to help ensure a tight line throughout.

Moving on to the handles, wakeboard handles tend to be quite a bit wider than ski handles. Wakeboard handles are generally made at 13-15 inches wide This is done to help the wakeboarder have more room to grab for behind the back tricks. Whereas ski handles are mainly designed at 11-13 inches wide with the best grip in mind.
